lost: yes they picked the worst time of the year. For anyone who doesn't know, summers in this region are hot and HUMID. Outdoors in late july....ugh. heat stroke. I kinda have to go. I'm not going to put up with being hot like that though. I'll find shade or some air conditioned area.
I also can't imagine the pain in the ass it will be to keep your food from spoiling and your drinks from being piss warm. Try keeping that shit cool that long in the blisteirng heat. I will have zero problem taking a cab to a restaurant each day. Fuck that noise.

Today I attended the Special Assembly Day (SAD lol). I overheard a conversation between an elder and another elder. We'll call this guy a super elder because he's on all sorts of committees in the area. He coordinates builds, assemblies, conventions, etc. You get the idea. Anyway, he was discussing with this other elder the international conventions. Most of the congregations are going to an international convention in Landover, MD, which is basically Washington DC. This brother was involved with several video conference meetings with the convention people at HQ and explaiend why Washington DC and London were chosen. He said that (and these are his words not mine) 'the society' put a lot of effort, money, time into those two sites because they wanted to show the world on the 100th anniversary of god's kingdom, here were god's people right in the back yard of the capitals of the two biggest world powers.
I thought to myself, 'does anyone in either city give a shit?' Fedex Field fills up to max capacity all the time for football events and I'm sure the place in London is the same deal. No one at all in the government cares. Typical JW hubris.

i am curious to know if witness kids are allowed to see the movie frozen.
i am not a big disney fan, but this movie was wonderful.

I know some JW's who will not watch most Disney animated films because they almost all 'have magic' in them.

Yet they baptize and df children...
by cultBgone ininteresting comment box from a 2012 wt mag...found this when looking for something else.
.
sure, "they realize that when a child becomes an adult, he or she will make a personal choice with regard to worship" but if their decision is to not be a jw, they are cut off from their family.. talk about deception, these guys are masterful... .

Hahaha. That answer doesn't even answer the question. The fact is, parents ARE told to drag their kids to the meetings and field service.

Special Local Needs From Branch This Week
by kneehighmiah ini hear there will be a special local needs outline provided by the branch this week.
does anyone have details?
will this be a regional thing only?
-

Every once in a while they get a letter from the branch with an outline or something that's supposed to be discussed at a local needs part. It's probably going to be related to the memorial or the international conventions.

Apostate NT Canon
by Pterist inas mentioned in july 15th 2013 watchtower "the apostasy started in the first century and flourished by the fourth century" or words to that effect.. as i was reading ff bruce's "the bible canon" ($14 kindle ver.
on amazon) i was very surprised to read that there are no original nt documents from the first century, just copies of copies of copies of many documents from that period.
apparently the 27 book nt canon was not set until about the fourth century by trinitarian church fathers.

they jw's and other christians beleive that god made sure those books were picked. it's pretty weird why other books were dropped. for example, jesus celebrated hannaukah which comes from the events found in the books of Maccabees. It's legit as far as christians go so why were they dropped? The Book of Enoch is name dropped in the NT, but it's dropped from most bibles. why?
